Karen Kong and Lala Ngai were interviewed at the Hong Kong Outstanding Digital Brand Awards 2021 about their everyday use of phones and electronic devices. Karen said her phone had become difficult to separate from both work and daily life. Later in the clip, she also revealed that she was preparing a more upbeat new song, hoped to stage her own concert in the future, and was working on her fitness to improve her performance condition.

Trying to rest but still having to deal with the phone

Karen said she had tried to ignore her phone for a while. She had received an injection the day before the interview and wanted to rest, but calls and matters kept arriving and she felt she had to deal with them first. By the event, she said she was feeling somewhat dizzy.

Asked whether she could live without the internet or electronic devices, she answered that she could not, joking that it might take being put on a deserted island for her to disconnect completely. Her comments show that the phone was not simply entertainment for her but had become closely tied to work.

Lala Ngai is rarely without her phone

Lala Ngai likewise said she was almost never separated from her phone, even taking it with her when showering or going to the bathroom. If someone temporarily took the phone while she was working, she would soon ask her manager where it was. Their answers together capture how deeply smartphones and connectivity had become part of everyday life.

Preparing a more upbeat new song

The clip also said Karen was preparing a new musical challenge. Her next song was described as more upbeat and intended to show fans another side of her.

The video does not name the song, so this digest preserves only what was stated at the time and does not retrospectively identify it with a later release.

After the BOP concert, a stronger goal of staging her own show

Karen also said she hoped to hold a concert of her own one day. She referred to having recently appeared as a guest at BOP’s concert; people at her company were pleased by what they saw on stage and encouraged her to keep working towards that goal.

She understood that a solo concert would still require more support, so she hoped to build a larger fan base and show the company her continued effort. She was also training physically, wanting not only more fan support but a stronger physical and performance condition.
